Meet Jacquie, owner of Apple & Eve

Q&A with the driving force behind the salon
September 22 2016, words by Jacquie Esparza

There’s no better way to get to know a new beauty salon than by getting to know the owner herself. As the founder and creator of Apple & Eve, we asked Jacquie to tell us more about the salon, her favourite treatments, and what she does on her days off…

How did it all start?

After I finished my beauty therapy course, I started work as a therapist in two different salons. I always wanted to open my own and it started off as a small basement where I just did waxing and massages. When I outgrew that, I moved into my own bigger space, and Apple & Eve was born!

What do you love most about your job?

I love working alongside expert therapists because there’s always new things to learn. But the thing that is most rewarding, is when you see a client come in, stressed from a day’s work. Then, they have a relaxing treatment like a facial or a massage and they walk out a totally relaxed and happy, like the best version of themselves. That’s what I love the most.

What’s your favourite treatment on the menu?

Personally, I love massages, both getting a massage but also carrying them out. I love the fact that you can really be in tune with exactly what the client needs and it is such a natural way for the body to relax and connect with themselves. See our full list of massages here.

At Apple & Eve, what are you most proud of?

Never giving up. When the salon first opened, it was called HolisticBeauty. There was a point when the recession hit, and lots of shops around the area were closing down, and I thought I was going to give up too. Then, my brother Juan joined me and and we put all our effort in to transforming the salon instead of giving up.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I have time, I love to cook. I like making Thai food and I love exotic flavours and anything tropical.

Where’s your favourite place to relax?

I love the seaside because you can connect with nature. Probably the most relaxing beach I’ve been, is an Island in Colombia called San Andres – there were palm trees, coconuts and white sand like a paradise. Here in London, I feel really relaxed on Telegraph Hill. I used to take my little boy there to play on the grass so it’s somewhere I feel happy.
